Magritte Themed Party
A famous piece of art can be a great theme for a party. One of my favorite artworks is The Son of Man by Rene Magritte. The green apple covering Magritte’s face is - without a doubt - iconic. For this party: I made a piñata, cut out sugar cookies, and made surprise balls to resemble the famous green apple.
One of my favorite activities for a birthday is hitting the piñata, mainly because of the treats inside. You also can’t have a party without one. I got together cardboard, tissue paper, glue, and cutting equipment to make a piñata into The Son of Man - apple covering his face and all. The question now is, does it belong in a museum?(I’m kidding.)
Cookies or anything sweet for that matter is a staple of any celebration. I am a big fan of sugar cookies (and my stomach agrees). They’re not too sweet and are delicious, whether you make the dough at home or buy it at the store. I found that cutting out sugar cookies is a quick way to add sweetness to your theme. I purchased a Magritte cookie cutter from the Baker Street Cutters. You can find them on Esty.
Treat bags and favors are a last thank you to your guests. So you want to make them memorable and theme related. Recently, I became quite fond of the surprise ball. If you’re not familiar with them, they’re made from crepe paper and have small gifts wrapped inside. As you unwrap… surprise! …a small gift or candy will be revealed. With the Magritte theme, I made the famous green apple.
Styling this Magritte Themed Party was a lot of fun. My favorite part was making the pinata. I’m a big fan of art which means there will be more art themed parties in the near future. Do you think you’ll have a Magritte Themed Party for your next birthday? Let me know.
